Chevalier de Seingalt memoir
The author of passage and the lecturer both talk about the accurisity of Chevalier de Seingalt memories, which written in the end of his life and become one of the historical resources about European society. The Author of passage presents a detail about this letter to mention that there aren’t so accurate. However, in contrary, the lecturer believes that this memory is reliable historian sources and contradicts various viewpoints mention in the passage base on three reasons.
To begin with, the author says that a claim of being wealthy to spent on parties and being in mobiles societies, is in contrast with his money borrowings from Swiss merchant which, discovered recently. Yet the lecturer doubt that Chevalier was a merchant and he spent money in some political events which they came back to him through time so it is not a reason to challenge the reliability of his memories.
In additionally, the author mentions the details of Chevalier s meeting in with Voltaire who is the one of the famous writers. He thinks that these memories written so many years after the meeting acquire and remembering the details of conversation is inconceivable. On the other hand, the lecturer believes that on the same night, Chevalier had written the details of the meeting on the piece of paper.
In the end, the author assets the way which Chevalier scape the jill while he was in Italy is seems exaggerated thus, he had a powerful and well-connected political friend which could help him released from prison. The lecturer mention that he kept in political prison which include more powerful persons that they could released with bribe but they couldn’t yet there is a new evidenced find from the documents of that prison about the maintaining the roof of the room which Chevalier was kept there.
