Dog breeding Delta

Essay topics:

Dog breeding
Delta

The article introduces the dog breeding industry, which is reciprocally beneficial for humans and dogs. However, the lecturer turns against the article by explaining the ethical consequences of canine genetics and the welfare of dogs.
Although the process of breeding dogs has advanced and commonized as the reading stated, some breeders actually harm dog’s health in general during the process. Take a closer look, the writer claims that nowadays breeders are able to select favorable traits of dogs in order to cultivate the healthier breeds and fertilize more desirable breeds. Yet, the lecturer disagrees with the whole concept of this improved breed process. He mentions that some breeders are known as “Backyard breeders”. They are concerned more about profits than the welfare of dogs. They undertake the process without having a total understanding of the natural breed and ethics. That’s one of the reasons why the lecturer can’t stand the writer.
Second of all, the author asserts that breeders are mostly dog lovers or dog experts. They even know how to standardize the health of dogs and collect precise information for the industry. These dog experts can possibly inbreed dogs to produce more dominant genes of dogs even though alpha dogs have underlying diseases or physical weaknesses. As the speaker says, some breeders overuse the same male dog to breed, and the offspring of the male dog can easily inherit bad genes. For example, some types of dogs have bad hips or heart issues, while others have bone problems.
The last conflict is about the popular culture of dogs. According to the passage, it emphasizes that popular dog culture and media endorse appreciation of various dogs. The pop breed of dogs or dog shows not only prompt a boost of the dog industry, but also educate people to have a more responsible ownership. Nevertheless, the listening part brings up another unethical consequence, which causes the increase of unwanted dogs when people are influenced by popular dogs. The speaker gives an example of dalmatian dogs, a lot of people found out the dalmatian dogs are not as cute as dogs in the 101 dalmatian, so they don’t want to keep them anymore. Therefore, this kind of situation ends up having some dogs killed at shelters because people abandon them.
