eco tourism
The main topic of the Reading and the lecturer is eco-tourism. The principal difference between one and the other is that the Reading stated that eco-tourism it is the greatest option and solution for development, and on the other hand, the lecturer claims that has its benefits but it is not the perfect solution to development.
First, on the Reading it is said that eco-tourism has significant positive results, that it serves as a substitute for forms of development that would be much more damaging the environment, but the lecturer says that we shouldn't believe that eco or Green tourism is all about good thing, because all developments have positive and negative sides. In addition to that, the lecturer stated that it is true that eco-tourism has less impact but actually does required infrastructures like roads that can really affect the environment with wáter and air pollution.
Second, the Reading affirms that there would be a lot of tourist, that local people could find Jobs, that living conditions will improve and therefore, all parties benefit- tourist, governments, local people and animals and plant.
But in spite of that, the lecturer says that actually, local people have no benefits, that it is true that there are more Jobs, but usually those Jobs are taken from people that came from other places. It also stated that it does impact the enviroment because some other things started to appear like ilegal hutting, cutting down trees, cultural pollution and all of this produce a change in the society, so the lecturer stated that it is true that eco-tourism has its benefits but its not the perfect solution for development.
