the fuel-cell engines

Essay topics:

the fuel-cell engines

The reading passage explains that because of the merits of the Fuel- cell engines, they will be replaced instead of internal-combustion engines. The professor casts doubts on advantages of fuel-cell engines and admits that these kinds of engines have lots of problems.
First, the reading passage discusses that petroleum which is used by internal- combustion engine is a finite resource but fuel-cell engine uses hydrogen that is easily available. The lecturer rejects this idea an claims that hydrogen is not exactly available, because it must first obtained in pure form but producing and storing liquid hydrogen would be possible in very low temperature.
Next, in the reading passage it is mentioned that hydrogen- based fuel cells will solve pollution problems. The professor rebuts this issue and claims that producing and purification of hydrogen are needed to burn coal or oil that will increase pollution.
Last, the reading passage says that fuel- cell engines will be competitive because they will need less money to operate than internal-combustion engines. The professor however, rebuts this and points out that in these kinds of engines platinum is used which is a rare and expensive metal and replacing it with another metal is impossible.
