pateint records in medical
The reading and the lecturer are both about the medical records which are stored in either electronic data bases or paper base in the hospitals. The author believes that electronic base records are very easy and convenient. The lecturer casts doubt on the claims made in article. He says that doctors need to keep records in paper still they have electronic records.
First of all, the author claims that electronic records help to save money, because there is no need for space to keep records, and they are easy to transfer and copy. This point is challenged by lecturer; he says that for the legal reason doctors need to keep paper based data, because in paper data there is signature of doctor so it is important. Moreover, doctors keep back up plan in case of emergency. So, they keep paper data still they have electronic record.
Secondly, the author states that electronic base data prevents errors like improper writing or unorganized data, so it may leads to dangerous consequences. The lecturer rebuts this argument and suggests that doctors still need to paper and pen for note down the medical history of patient. He elaborates on this by mentioning that assistance of doctor copy the history in computer later on after finishing the whole procedures.
Thirdly, the author mentions that electronic records are helpful in research aid, because it is impossible to study whole data from the thousands of papers. The lecturer, on the other hand, states that use of electric data in research work is very complicated. He admits that now it is compulsory to take permission of patient before include his data in research work. Patient can block his data anytime, so this is a very difficult procedure.
