The reading and the lecture are both about wood companies who recieved a certification called ecocertified when they obtain the standards of saving and recycling materials . More specifically, in regard to the passage, the writer presents three theories about how these companies can attract people to buy their products. The lecturer disputes the claims made in the article. His position is that these reasons are not true because american companies take care of their reputation.
First and foremost, the author of the reading states Americans have not pay attension to this new lable because they think it is not valuable. The article mentions that consumers did not trust and advertising by firms. This argument is challenged by the lecturer. He claims that Americans do not treat all companies in the same way and they discern on independent companies. He points out that they tend to buy from one company if there is no competition in the market but, if there more companies they will make attension to them.
Secondly, the author suggests prices of these companies will be higher than the other corporations in the market because they are certificated. In the article it is said that people tend to purchase from lowest cost produts, so American companies will not sue this new strategy. Again, the professor specifically addresses this point when he states by gives a study that american care about price when only company in the market. He goes on to say that less than 5 percent of american will not choce the value of the price.
Finally, the author brings his argument to a close by suggesting that American companies care about busniess only inside the country which sufficint for them. Not surprisingly, the lecturer takes issue with this claim by contending that these companies need to pay attension to the other parts of the world. He notes that foreign firms can attack to the American market and take their consumers from them if they did not apply this new way.
