submarines patrol 32

Essay topics:

submarines patrol 32

The reading and the lecture both discuss "quackers" strange sounds that had have heard by Russain submarines police while guarding North Atlantic and the Arctic Ocean between 1960-1980. The author suggests a few theories behind this phenomenon. On the other hand, the lecturer refutes each of the hypotheses provided in the reading passage and states that experts are still debating about the reasons for these odd sounds.

First and foremost, The lecturer argues the first point of the reading by saying that it is unlikely that female orch whale will produce quackers noises. According to the professor, the female orca swims close to the surface of the Ocean, while the submarines patrol vehicle moves in the deep ocean. For this reason, it is impossible that sound from surface water could reach the deep Ocean and particularly the isolated submarines. However, The reading only states that female orch omits noises to entice males for mating.

Furthermore, The listening contradicts the second point made in the reading passage by pointing out that giant squid is another doubtful reason for quakers. The professor explains that these odd noises have continued for 2 decades and disappeared after that. According to the lecture, the giant squid is still present in the area and not producing any noises. It is improbable that sounds appeared in two decades and stopped the following decades. On the contrary, the passage of the reading asserts that another theory to support the quacking phenomenon is the giant squid in the North Atlantic and the Arctic Ocean. According to the author, those marine animals are smart enough and they can produce sounds to reach the submarines.

Finally, the speaker casts doubt on the third hypothesis of the reading passage by saying that the strange sounds were not coming from one of the foreign military submarines from outside Russia. According to the professor, the source of the bizarre sounds moves or changes directions so quickly. In addition, the professor explains that submarines theory does not hold water for the reason that these vehicles do not shift or alter direction fastly. Although, the author posits that the origin of the odd noises was the foreign military submarine.
