summaries the point made in the lecture .
The reading passage depicts doubts of the opponent about the memoir of the chevalier. The critics of the chevalier believe chevalier has exaggerated his life events to seek more attention. The lecturer represents evidence to prove the chevalier memoir is authentic.
The reading passage proclaims according to the chevalier memoir he used to spent colossal amount of the money when he was in Switzerland. In actual he was not the rich person he had a lot of debt from banks. However, the lecturer argues chevalier had huge real estate in Switzerland and he had sold his all property. It took a while to get his money from the sold property so he took a loan for that time being.
The author of the reading claims chevalier conversation between him and a famous writer written in the memoir is fake. Chevalier met this famous writer may years ago and it is not possible to remember each word said by a famous writer. On the contrary, the lecturer states the day conversation happened between them chevalier wrote everything when he got back home. Even the memoir has been written after a long time of the conversation chevalier used his notes for reference. Thus whatever written in the memoir is true.
The reading passage assumes the chevalier did not break the jail instead of it he would have given money to the jail official to let him go. In contrast, the speaker asserts government documents sates that they had to repair the selling of the jail after a chevalier run. Therefore the chevalier would have broken that selling to run away from the jail
