Summarize the points made in the lecture and explain how the speaker casts doubt on
specific points made in the reading passage.
The reading and lecture are both about the organization that often arranged individuals to a single team in order to attain accomplished job. The author of the reading states that there are numerous advantages of asigning task to a group rather than single employee. The lecturer opposes the idea and attacks each of the claim made in the article.
Firstly, the author of the reading states that since there are number of individuals, they can contribute the varieties of knowledge. In addition, this aids to finish asigned project in time with effective output. The lecturer believes there are flaws in the writer’s position. He contends that although project could be complete within deadline, some individual might contribute less to the project as individual performance would not be evaluated.
Secondly, if project goes well then every one in the group is appreciated for their effort. On contrary, if not then all will be accountable. The speaker on other hand points out that there may be few personnels who confer their 100 percent in their task however in a group project their determination would not be recognized and they could not flourish.
Finally, the reading passage also notes that, individual will feel better and motivated if their proposed idea is appreciated. As a result they will shine as the group result is far reaching and can have impact to great extent. The professor rebuts this argument. He puts forth the idea that, it is challenging to reach the decision since individuals might have different perspective toward the task. Therefore, if any of the member refutes the proposed concept then again they need to do further discussion and it takes time.
As we know, the author and lecturer holds confliction views on group task. The speaker effectively challenges writer’s argument.
