Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific solutions proposed in the reading passage.
The main topic of both the passage and the lecture is solutions to decrease the danger of glasses for birds because birds can't distinguish between the glass and open air. The passage suggests three solutions to prevent birds' injury. The professor, on the other hand, categorically denies whatever mentioned in the reading by citing several reasons.
First, The passage goes on to mention that replacing usual glasses with one-way glasses is a beneficial solution. When birds see this kind of glass, they will imagine that a barrier is in front of them and change their direction. The lecturer, nevertheless, rejects this author's solution and illustrates the idea that one-way glasses work as a mirror and reflect the pictures of sky or trees. Thus, this reflection deceives birds and lets them fly through the glass.
Second of all, according to the reading, painting glasses with colorful lines is another solution that can help birds to understand the distinction between the window and open air. Also, people are still able to see via the opening space between lines. Nonetheless, the speaker refutes the reading solution, saying that birds treat with a colorless piece of these glasses as a hole and fly into them. To prevent them from this action, the professor believes that we must design spaces between lines extremely short. As a consequence, the building becomes very dark. Therefore, the lecturer says that it's not a practical solution.
Eventually, the article states that magnetic fields could be efficient because birds have an intrinsic capability to navigate easily and receive signals from Earth; however, the professor mentions that this solution is not beneficial either. He proves his idea by claiming that birds use this ability just in long-distance navigation, and for short trips, they benefit their eyes. For example, when they migrate from cold areas to warm sites, they use this ability to sense magnetic fields, but in short trips and flying from one apartment to another, they use their vision.
To sum up, both the author and the speaker address solutions for the harmful effects of glasses on birds. The passage argues three reasons to prevent birds from flying into windows directly. In contrast, the professor points out that these solutions are not practical and have major problems.
