Essay topics:

Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific solutions proposed in the reading passage.

The reading and the lecturer both represent conflicting information about photographs of negatives that were found in California, and whether they were made by Ansel Adams. While the reading represents some arguments to support this statement made by him, the lecturer casts doubt on three criticisms of the reading statements by claiming these arguments are not convincing. He says Although there are some similarities between these negatives, there are some arguments to reject the reading's statements.

First, the reading states in these negatives there are landscapes that Adams used to have in his photographs, like pine trees. The professor, however, refutes this point and explains these pine trees are not random trees and there are placed in the famous park where there are many photographers who could go there and take a photo of them.

Second, the reading states that the envelopes holding these negatives have the same handwriting as Adams' wife on them, who is her husband's assistant. The professor calls to question this point and asserts the spelling on the envelopes is not correct. He explains that Virginia Adams grew up in this place and she could spell correctly the name of her childhood city. Thus, the author of the envelopes cannot be Adams' wife.

The last point that the lecture challenges is about a number of negatives that were damaged by fire, which challenges the standpoint by reading statements that Adams' photography studio had fired and many of the images damaged. The professor says although a fire can easily start in the studio and has a high chance, many photographers are able to deal with it nowadays.
