The reading state the medical staff have been recorded patient’s information on the paper. However, if they will use an electronic medical record system, it will have several advantages.
Although when the medical stuff uses the electronic record system instead of papers, the professor, disputes that, most of the doctors don’t throw the patients’ information for legal reasons, so they will still be paying for storage to keep it for emergency case.
Even though doctors use an electronic system to reduce misunderstanding handwriting and medical errors, the lecture argues that, because they will still use paper in examination by taking notes and write prescriptions by their hand and then office staff inter information to the computers, so poor hand writing and misunderstanding still there are.
Finally, electronic record system assists medical research to gather and collect a large amount of data from patient’s record. The professor, disagrees that, medical researchers have difficulty access to information and use it, because the US has strict privacy laws for patient’s data. If researcher wants to use this information, they must follow restrict and complicated procedure and permissions and some permissions not granted because it can be blocked.
