TPO-01 - Integrated Writing Task In the United States, employees typically work five days a week for eight hours each day. However, many employees want to work a four-day week and are willing to accept less pay inorder to do so. A mandatory policy requiri

n the reading passage, the professor made several points about effectiveness of a four-day workweek. The professor casts doubt on the possible benefits to a company and to an employee from the four-day workweek and he makes several examples to support his idea.

According to the professor shortage of the workweek won’t affect on company’s benefits. In the reading passage, It is said that four-day workweek will lead to the hiring of more qualified staff and increase company’s profit. The Professor doesn’t agree with this statement and claims that increasing number of employees will force company to put more money into the health insurance and training for the new members of a company. Besides, the company will have to organize more office space for the new employees and all these spendings will probably won’t cut into profit.

Another statement of the reading passage that employees will benefit from having more free time. Professor contradicts this idea and asserts that if employees have more free time they won’t be able to build their career properly. He believes that bosses tend to promote employees who work on a five-day workweek and professor also thinks that four-day workweek employees are under bigger risk to lose their jobs than others.
In conclusion, the points made in lecture contrast with the reading.
