Reading and lecture are debating whether or not a four-day workweek would be beneficial for all the parts involved, namely the company, the employees and the whole economy. The writer involves the numerous advantages on four-day workweek but the lecture fascinating ample points to claim on four workweek points and give buttress point for five-day workweek in terms of profit, errors etc.
First of all, the writer says that employees make less error because they feel fresh and company do not require to pay more to employees and get profit. On the other hand, the lecture says that if employees work four-day workweek then they have require to hire more people which increase the cost of computer, space and also training is required to train new employees and their medical facilities which increase company cost instead Of profit.
To continue, the write says that unemployment is reduced by this but on the other hand the lecture opine that if company provide four-day workweek then company expect from the employees efficiency of work same as in the five-day workweek hence no employees hire because it enhance the cost of company and reduce the profit and finally unemployment is same as that as before.
Furthermore, The writer says that in four workweek employees have leisure time to spend with family, have more regions to work with full efficiency and make less error. In contrast the lecture provide ample point to support five work week that if employees work only four days they do not have opportunity to get promote and if there is any error occur they also have risk to lose the job first rather than five-day work employees.
In brief, there is no ample benefit provided to support the four-day workweek hence, five-day workweek is better in terms of company, the employees and the whole economy.
