Both the reading and the lecture discuss the merits and the demerits of teamwork. The reading provides a numerous benefits of the teamwork. However, the lecture disapproves all of these claims, and provides three points of support.
First of all, the reading states that teamwork members are able to finish the work faster since the great number of the individuals involved have a wide range of knowledge, experience, skills, and resources. On the other hand, the professor refutes this point by explaining that teamwork waste a tremendous amount of time to reach an agreement on the issue discussed in the project.
secondly, the reading suggests that teamwork is a really rewarding due to the fact that the members of the team feel good about themselves when they are giving a voice in making a decision. Nevertheless, the lecture contradicts this idea by stating that in the group, there are certain members who like to impose their opinions on the rest of the group and if the rest of the group develop an idea , it is going to be dismissed instead of being discussed.
Finally, the reading claims that members of the group have a better chance to shine and their ideas are highly significant. However, the professor opposes this idea by saying that some members of the team get a free ride. Eventhough they did not put in any effort in the project, they get recognitions and credits as same as the diligent workers who contribute greatly to the project.
