The reading and the lecture are both about was the Dutch painters pinted by Rembrandt or not?. The author believes that Rembrandt was not the one who painted the portrait. The lecturer costs doubt on the claims made in the article. She thinks the portrait was painted by Rembrands.
First of all, the author points out that the dresess of the women was unsutible. IT is mentioned that Rembrandt was known for his attention, and the women was servant who could not afford to wear a luxurious fur collar. However, the lecturer challenges this point. She says the fur collar was painted on the top after 100 years since Rembrandt.
Secondly, the author contends that Rembtandt was a profissonal on pinting light and shasow, but in this portrait these elemnts do not get along. The article notes under the face of the women is dark ful collar, which would absorb light but do not reflect it. The professor suggests rebuts this argument. She suggests the portrait is very realastic.
Finally, the author states that examination the back of the painting reveals that it was painted on a paned made of many pieces of wood stiked together. However, rembrandt did not use evet a panel glued together in this way. In contrast, the lecturer says this happened because Rembrandt elarge the paining.
