The main topic discussing in the paragraph and the lecture is whether dinosaurs were endothermic or not. Endothermic being has a capability to maintain its internal temperature irrespective of the environment. The paragraph shows couple of examples to proof that in spite of being a reptiles, dinosaurs were endothermic. Contrary to this opinion, lecture casts doubt on the endothermic nature of the dinosaurs.
The paragraph provides a reason for endothermic nature of dinosaurs is polar dinosaurs. It states that fossils of dinosaurs are found in the polar region and only living being can sustain polar temperature which is able to maintain temperature above climate. The lecture cast doubt on the reason and says that first of all polar regions were warmer in their time in compare to today's condition and secondly it could be the possibility of the dinosaurs to migrate from the polar region during cold season or they could go on hibernation during critical time.
Second reason states in paragraph about the leg position and movement of the dinosaurs. The legs of the dinosaurs were underneath its body, not outside like other reptiles. Whereas lecture tells that dinosaurs were high energy animals which helped them to run fast and dinosaurs were large animals which stated legs position were to support more weight of the body.
The paragraph shows that harvesian canals are found in the fossils of the dinosaurs which helps in the growing of the body rapidly. Rapid growth signifies endothermic in nature. Casting doubt on the reason about harvesian canals, lecture states that growth rings are also found in the fossils of dinosaurs and evidence shows that growth of the dinosaurs were in period means rapidly slowly and rapidly. It depends on the climatic condition of the environment. This is against the growth capability of the endothermic species.
