The reading passage mentions to new system of working which offers to employees four days work instead of five days working in the United States and supports the concept base on three reasons. However, the professor cast doubts about mentioned theory in the passage and explains other aspects of the reading points to clarify his disagreement.
In the first place, the professor repudiates the first point of the reading which refers to achieve more profit for companies by working four days in a week due to employees more time to rest, less defects and employees will attain 80 percent of the pay by working four days. In the professor’s opinion this idea will be more costly instead of being profitable because, more workers mean spending more money due to needs to more space, tools and devices. Therefore, accepting this notion due to be profitable seems inconvenience.
As a second reason, the reading’s point about high rate of employment cannot be logical because the professor uncovers that options like working four days work cannot be responsible to create more career. In addition, choices like that can increase the expectations. In the other words the employers expect five days tasks in four days from employees. As a result, adding less days work option doesn’t enhance the working rate.
Thirdly, the access to more time is mention as another benefit of less working days but the lecturer challenges the mentioned point. Because, he express that financial side of life has more effect in the life’s quality. In fact it cannot be reasonable to give 80 percent of salary instead of spending more time with family. Besides that, it hinders to advance the job skills and managers will be prefer five days work due to managing subjects.
