in this set of material, the reading states that salvage logging is beneficial both to a damaged forest and to the economy. However, the professor explains that it is true that it has benefit on a forest and the economy but it is not too much and refutes each of author's reasons.
First, the reading states that salvage logging removes the remains of dead trees and makes room for fresh growth. On the contrary, the professor refutes this point by stating that cleaning doesn't necessary to growth fresh tree. She argues that the soil need decomposing materials because it gives a lot of necessary elements to the soil.
Second, the article claims that decaying wood is a highly suitable habitat for insects such as the spruce bark beetle. In contract, the professor contends that the spruce bark beetle was living in a forest for thousand years. It doesn't have any effect on forest. The birds also are depending on these insects. these animals are so necessary to forest.
Third, the reading avers that salvage logging has economic benefits and creates more jobs. Conversely, the lecture opposes this point by saying that it has little effect on economy because these accidents are temporary. And also it will be so expensive because they will be using helicopter. it will create more jobs, she argues that it is not true because the worker need training and experience
