The passage states that the cane toad was introduced to Australia deliberately for some agricultural purposes. However, their population has become very noticeable and it is a problem nowadays. The passage explains some strategies to reduce its population but the lecturer says that these methods could not be instrumental and refutes each of them.
First, the passage explains that erecting a fence could helpful for limiting their current habitat. The professor rejects this method by saying that the young toads and the eggs of this specie could distribute to other regions by means of rivers and streams.
Second, the article claims that a human movement consists of volunteers for trapping toads is useful. The professor challenges this idea and claims that the toads are very similar to a kind of native frog. As a result, these untrained volunteers will be harmful for indigenous species.
Third, the passage avers that infecting toads by a specific virus which is only harmful for them could control their number. The lecturer does not confirm this method and says that the virus will lead to some harmful consequences. The virus could be transported to the america, the original habitat of the toads, and it will be devastative for the toads in that region. toad is a native animal in america and its elimination leads to unpleasant environmental issues.
