TPO-15 Cane toads

Essay topics:

TPO-15 Cane toads

The passage and lecture are both related to the increase of a number of cane toads in Australia. The author of the passage has proposed some approaches to deal with the spread of the cane toad. In contrast, The lecturer opposes that these methods are unsuccessful for this problem.

Firstly, According to the passage, the primary way that the author mentioned is to build a national fence in order to prevent them from moving the other parts of Australia that have been colonized. But the lecturer disagrees with this point by stating that their eggs and young toads could be flown by the stream of the river and finally, penetrate the fence to grow on the other side of the river.

Secondly, the author puts forward another solution to capture young toads and their eggs by using simple traps or hands of the volunteers. because of its easy accumulation and elimination. While the lecturer challenges with this term by putting his point that there are many untrained volunteers, as a result, it will increase the rate of catching the wrong species like king toad.

Finally, By developing a disease-causing virus would be considered as another effective way to regulate the populations of cane toads and Its effect won't harm other infected species, and it affects only cane toads. On the other hand, the professor thinks differently that this method would pose a threat to other species population like king toad which is one of the essential parts of ecology and it is the native species and then it will bring about the ecological disaster if there is the lack of its number.
