tpo 23 yellow cedar tree declining
The material discusses the concept of the causing of declining the yellow cedar trees populations. While the reading looks at the topic from one perspective the listening challenges certain points outlined in the reading passage.
Firstly, the listening details the point in regard to this topic, namely the decline of the tree may be caused by parasites. Next, the aggressive feeding habits of the brown bears may be responsible of this decline. Finally, the freezing climate in the winter cause damage to the trees.
Conversely, the listening challenges the points, one specific contradiction is the beetle only attack the trees which was already damage, because the healthy yellow cedar trees could produce chemical which poison these parasites. Therefore, this beetle is not the fundamental reason of the decline. In addition to that, the yellow cedar trees grew in an island where there were no bears, but they still declined from this island. Bears were not responsible for killing the tress because trees were declined with and without the bears. One final point, these tress declined more from the lower elevated where is warm than declining from the higher elevated where is cold. If the cold weather was the reason, so we expected that trees could be damaged more in the higher. That is mean the freezing weather is not the reason of killing the trees.
