The reading passage claims that an archaeologist in Iraq discovered a set of clay jars contained copper cylinder. The archaeologist suggested that vessels could have been used for producing a small electricity but there is no evidence to prove the author claims. However, the lecturer finds all the ideas dubious and presents some evidence to refute them all.
First, the author contends that those vessels should be connected to the conductors like metal wires in order to produce electricity. But no metal wires have been found on the site. In contrast, the lecturer underlines the fact that local people, might be discovered by ancient objects and there is a possibility that they did not interested in metal wires or they were not dexterous people. So, they might have thrown metal wires away.
Furthermore, the author embraces the idea that those vessels and copper cylinder may have been used for holding sacred scroll and there is nothing to do with electricity. On the contrary, the professor brings up the idea that although copper cylinder was used for holding the scroll, it has been used just for one purpose but adopted for another purpose.
Finally, as set forth by the author vessels and copper cylinder would have been useless and people did not know what to do with these objects. Conversely, the speaker dismisses this issue due to the fact that ancient people used vessels and copper cylinder to produce a shock using for healing. As a matter of fact, this shock could stimulate muscles and cure people. Also, they used a mild shock and the invisible power for magic power.
