TPO 40

The main idea of both the reading passage and the lecture is about whether permanent human living in Venus is plausible or not. With this in mind, the speaker categorically refutes three ideas mention in the text citing that living in Venus would be challenging, but it is possible.

First, the author claims that the amount of pressure on the Venus in much more greater in contrast to Earth's surface, which means that any landed spacecraft on Venus will be crushed. On the other hand, based on the information presented by the lecturer, by building a floating station like a ballon, human can live in fifty kilometer above the Venus's surface since the higher elevate goes up, the lower pressure will be experienced. therefore, in the atmosphere above the surface, there is no danger for human at all.

Second, the writer asserts that Venus is lack of water supply besides oxygen. Also, the Venus's atmosphere mainly contains carbon dioxide, nitrogen and sulfuric acid. However, according to the talk, making water and oxygen from Venus atmosphere is possible because human can produce oxygen and water from chemical reaction of carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid of the atmosphere and obtaining water and oxygen is easy enough which means that there is no need to importing water from the earth.

Eventually, while the writer maintains that due to thick cloud, 60 percent of Venus's sunlight will be eliminated. The lectures cast doubts on the idea mentioning that clouds above the atmospher are not very thick. It means that human can use the reflection light of the clouds in the way to produce electricity energy for power of the station.
