Both the author and lecturer discuss the benefits and consequences of electronic data base for medical information about patients. Whereas the author posits that there are three beneficial reasons, the lecturer refutes this claim, casting doubt on every single point made by the author.
First, the author argues that the use of electronic records can reduce the amount of money are wasted by copying, faxing, or transporting paper records from one hospital to another. Manually database needs many space to storage them, But electronic database does not need a large space for storing data. Conversely, the lecturer brings up the idea that many doctors tend to store paper version of that information for emergency cases. This show that although the electronic database is modern and good way of storing, money are payed for paper stuff any way.
Second, whereas the author believes that the electronic data with united font and style reduces the amount of human mistakes, the professor counters that argument by asserting that many doctors still use pen and paper for complete their project about their patients and they note very important things very fast with pour hand-writing. It is obvious that the human mistakes occurred too in this way of storing and recalling the notes and information.
Finally, the reading asserts that researchers can access to the information of medical centers very easier than before and use them to further researches. In contrast, the speaker dismisses this issue due to the fact that researchers must have permission to access this kind of information. It is a rule of United State of America that the information of patients who go to the medical centers are privacy and no one can reach those without a hard permission which is toke long time.
