Question: Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific points made in the reading passage.
Pterosaurs
The reading and the listening materials have a debate if Pterosaurs had the ability of flying. The penman puts forward 3 main hypothesizes which are refuted by the following orator.
First of all, the writer suggests that Pterosaurs like modern reptiles may have been cold-blooded, As a result, they could not fly because this action needs more energy. The speaker views this issue from an opposite angle. According to her, new discoveries from Pterosaurs's fossils determined that they had fair hairs for maintaining their body warm and store enough energy for flying.
The second point offered by the author is that Pterosaurs' heavy body did not allow them flying. On the other hand, the lecturer casts doubt on this assumption by saying that the bones of them have many empty holes that causes their weight be unusually light in compare with their size. Furthermore, they perhaps fly.
Third, the reading passage proposes that animal whom are capable to fly can take off from ground, but due to heavy weight of Pterosaurs, they could not fly. On the contrary, the professor holds a different perspective. She explains that birds have only 2 leg, thus it is understandable that they need to take off for flight ability. Pterosaurs had 4 legs and did not relay on jumping or running before their flying.
In all, the ideas mentioned in the speech counter the ones in the text in that storing energy through hair, having pores bones and 2 legs more in compare with birds help Pterosaurs for flying.
