TPO-48 - Integrated Writing Task
Both the reading and the lecture discuss the advantages and disadvantages of methods by which the declining frog populations could be solved. The author believes that by implementing three methods it would be possible to prevent frog extinction. The professor, on the contrary, refuses those methods by saying that none of the proposed methods offer a practical solution and provides three reasons.
Firstly, the author asserts that frogs are being harmed by pesticides which are using in agriculture, and by passing laws, we can prohibit people from using this harmful material. The lecturer, by contrast, casts doubt on this claim by arguing that these laws would not be economical and fair because passing these laws bring about crop loss and the agricultures could not be able to compete in the markets. Moreover, this restrict regulation would have been severed disadvantages for people who are obligated to do it in comparison to other people who have no to do it since it causes the lower yield of product.
Secondly, the reading passage contends that fungus causes some problems for frogs and make them die of dehydration; therefore, frogs should be treated to remove these fungi from them. The lecturer, nonetheless, rejects this method by saying that the feasibility of this method is so low because each individual of frog must be treated and this is difficult. Moreover, capturing and treating the frog is another reason which makes this method not possible. Furthermore, offspring of frog must be treated, so this treatment should conduct again and again. Therefore, this method is much more complicated and expensive.
Finally, the reading passage avers claims that the habitat of frogs are being threatened because people use a great amount of water; so their habitat should be protected from over using of water by the human. The professor, by contrast, holds this opinion that this method would not solve the problem and refuses this claims. Moreover, the professor says that using water by the human from this wetland is not the biggest threat, the biggest threat is global warming that contributes to the extinction of frogs. Additionally, prohibition of human from using the water is unlikely to prevent the changing of frog population.
