Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they challenge the specific points made in the reading passage.
According to the lecture, the reading passage shows misinterpretation on elephants behaviors.
First, old elephants leave the herd may not because of the awareness of approaching death, but for another reason. Old elephants have unhealthy damaged teeth. In order to survive, they have to leave the herd and wander to find softer vegetation. And usually, softer vegetation is found near water, and this explains why old elephants are near bodies of water.
Second, we couldn't say the elephants have the artistic ability because they probably do not understand what strokes represent. When training elephants, human trainers touch the elephants' sensitive ears, giving them instruction for the strokes of flowers of other patterns, and then repeated the training to make elephants remember the strokes. This suggests it is likely that elephants are just be trained to paint, but not really understanding the meaning of their painting.
Third, not all elephants fear of mice. In fact, in the reading passage, the reason elephants turned away from mice is that mice are unfamiliar to them, not because they are mice. A fact supporting this idea is that elephants live in a zoo, see mice very often, and are eventually able to find that mice are not actually posing threats. And these elephants live in the zoo would not be frightened by mice.
