The article states that the salty of the Salton Sea in California is increasing, and it is dangerous for inhabitant fish and provides three solutions for decreasing salt from the sea. However, the professor explains that reducing salt and improving fish life would be great and refutes each of the author's solutions.

First, the reading states that one option is direct remove salt from seawater by pumping them into chambers and evaporating water. The professor refutes this point by stating that this work will decrease the salt. Still, it would become a big problem, for evaporating seawater besides salt will release some solid material and some toxic chemicals with salt. They are going to air, and it is making big health problems for humans by breathing them.

Second, the article claims that we can dilute the salt level by adding water from the ocean for a lower salt level of the ocean's salt. However, the professor contends that this action will decrease the salt level, but it will need massive construction for pipelines, and the government would not have budgets for the structures, which is huge because the pacific ocean is one thousand kilometers away.

Third, the reading avers that dividing the sea using walls would decrease the salt level. The lecture opposes this point by saying that using walls for dividing unlikely would not work for a long time, for geological are of the sea is very active for earthquakes. After the first earthquake, the earthquake will destroy the walls, and parts of seawater will merge again.
