In this set of material, the reading passage states that the agnostids were a group of marine animals that their fossils have found in many areas around the world, however the paleontologists do not know more information about their food or the places of their living. The reading brings three theories and support them, however the lecture find all theories unconvincing and provides some evidence to refute them. The information the professor provides contradicts the fact outlined in the reading.

First, the reading claims that the agnostids may have been free- swimming predators in open oceans that they were eating small animals, in contrast the professor argues that a free-swimming predator requires large eyes with the best vision, however agnostids did not have such large eyes or other organs which could have helped them to sense their pray.

Second, the author of reading contends that agnostids may have lived on the seafloor and have eaten dead organism, on the contrary the lecture believes that brings which live on the seafloor do not have ability to move fast and they are restricted to local area, however agnostids have found in a large scale of areas in the world; hence they were able to move from a place to another place quickly.

Third, the reading passage proposes that agnostids may have been parasites that they were obtaining food from their host, conversely the professor disagrees and expresses that the population of parasites usually is low otherwise their host can feed or kill them, however as the reading has mentioned the population of agnostieds were very larg, consequently they could not have been parasites.
