Twin studies
The reading and listening passages are discussing Twin Studies. The article states that the result of the twin studies shows that human personalities in identical twins are much similar than fraternal twins and this is due to their same genetic makeup. The author provides some reasons for support. However, the speaker explains that identical twins have similar personalities and other characteristics traits are due to their upbringing in the same environment and refute each of the author's reasons.
First, the speaker mentions that the result of the same environment studies for twins shows that similarity in behaviour of twins is due to their same environment, but it is not true in some cases. She elaborates this point by mentioning that identical or fraternal twins if grown in the same environment, so they share similar personalities. In this, in both cases of identical twins and fraternal twins they both have the same environment, if this is possible then identical twins share same similarities than fraternal twins and, this is due to their upbringing in the same environment rather than by genetic behaviour.
Moreover, she says, but in some of the cases, the upbringing of identical twins are like as they are a single unit. For example, they both have the same ice-cream and cloth or food choice. Family members consider them as two half of single person. They wear the same dress. So, in this situation, the identical twins share more similarity compare to the fraternal twins is due to their upbringing in the same environment, even they have similar genetic makeup or not.
This rebuts the assertion made in the reading passage that more similar characteristics traits in identical twins compared to fraternal twins is more likely from their heritability rather their same environment.
So, the reading and listening are totally opposing each other.
