The two graphs show the main sources of energy in the USA in the 1980s and the 1990s.
Write a report for a university lecturer describing the changes which occurred.
Write at least 150 words.
The two pie charts indicate the figures of the five sources of energy: Oil, gas, coal, hedroelectronic and nuclear power in the United States of America in 1980s and 1990s.
At the first glance of the two graphs, both oil and natural gas constituted the biggest figure in 1980s and 1990s. As for oil, the consumption of oil made up 42% and this number dropped nearly 10%, it was only 33% in 1990s. Followed by natural gas, there was nearly no change in consuming natural gas in USA, 26% in 1980s and 25% in 1990s. However, regarding to coal, it increased to 27% in 1990s compared to 1980s, only 22%. Interestingly, nuclear power went up double for a period of ten years, from just 5% in 1980s and 10% in 1990s. By contrast, there was no change in hydroelectronic power, it accounted for only 5% in totally both 1980s and 1990s and it was also the least number compared with other sources of energy during this period.
It is concluded that oil and gas were the biggest figure but they was a slight reduction. Although most of other sources of energy rose but they was by far smaller than oil and gas.
