The table gives the percentage of trips made by using different modes of transportation in four different nations namely in Canada, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands. The Bar Chart presents the reasons given by the commuters in Canada why they travel by car. Overall, it can be seen that car is the most used means of transport in all the four countries and most of the travellers in Canada have opined that they do not have any alternative means of transport than car.
From the table, it can be deciphered that majority of journeys (that is 90%) in Canada involved car whereas, the car was used in slightly less than half of the travels (that is for 47%) in the Netherlands. Therefore, it is obvious from the table that the least amount of journeys was made by car in the Netherlands than the journeys by car in other three countries.
In Germany, little more than two-thirds of journeys (that is 68%) involved car and in Belgium, the figures show that car was used for making almost three-quarters of the travels.
Another glaring revelation that the table makes is that bicycle is quite popular in the Netherlands and stands at the second place in terms of its use. A little more than a quarter journeys (that is 26%) were made on bicycle in the Netherlands. In sharp contrast to the figures from the Netherlands, very insignificant amount of journeys were made which involved bicycle in other three countries.
As further can be seen from the table, the public transportation was the second preferred mode for travelling in Germany and in Belgium. When it comes to Canada, more journeys were made on foot than by public transportation. Almost one-fifth journeys in the Netherlands were on foot whereas in Germany and in Belgium, the figure was around one-tenth.
Coming to the analysis of bar chart, it can be seen that it provides reasons behind choosing car to travel in Canada. Little more than a third of people surveyed said that there is simply no other alternative. Slightly more than one-fifth of respondents thought that it was due to convenience in travelling. Marginally less than a third of population who answered the question responded that it is due to need of the job rather than the choice.
