The author and lecturer offer two opposing views on the effect of fossil purchasing by the private ownership. While the reading part lists some reasons as the main dangerous factors of this incident, the professor counters these specific points. She presents some clues to call into the question for the information in the text.
First of all, the lecturer refutes the fact that the public will be restricted to access these fossils; inasmuch as, a specific individual is the owner of fossils. This point is named as of the disadvantages of this event in the text. However, the lecturer states that these purchases do not decrease the people's access to these fossils; on the other hand, it presents a wider opportunity for the people. Since the museums’ limited budget cannot be responsible for the updating the new and unique type of fossils.
Next, the passage uses the fact that the scientists will lose their approach as one of the fundamental risks of this event. The lecturer doubts the truth of this claim. As she asserts, the values of fossils are indicated by the scientific examination. This examination is applied by the scientists, in this condition, if they find a rare fossil with proliferated evidence; they will not allow selling it. That how she casts doubt on the accuracy of this factor.
Finally, the professor argues that the fossils are in the threat of damages, while the wealthy commercial buyers do have no adequate information about their conservations. Meanwhile, the text portrays this situation as one of the drawbacks. Based on the lecturer's evidence, by buying the fossils, more substances are unearthed and the affluent data about their lives are available. In the comparison of the few unearthed fossil with the insufficient amount of information about their lives, these damages can be neglected.
The professor effectively challenges the claim made in the article.
