The following chart illustrates the results of a British survey taken in 2005 related to Housing preferences of UK people.
The chart represents the proportion of British people's preferences with four different types of houses in UK in 2005.
Overall, majority British people preferred flat in London, whereas detached and semi-detached houses were more popular among the people of Oxford and Cambridge.
Looking in details for London, majority of people preferred to live in flat (of close to 60%) than other types of houses; semi-detached houses of about 18%, terraced houses of around 15% and detached houses had the lowest percentage of close to 10%.
In contrast, Cambridge had the highest preferable to residing in detached houses (of about 35%) in comparison to semi-detached houses of about 25%, flats of 20% and terraced houses of 18%.
Concurrently, people from Oxford preferred to reside in most of house types; flats of close to 30%, semi-detached houses of close to 30% and detached houses of about 23%. The lowest preferable housing type was terraced houses of close to 20%.
