Bar chart
The barchart provides data about how three economic categories: agriculture, manufacturing, and business and financial services contributed to British economy from 1900 to 2000.
At first glance, we can see that business and financial services is the only one sector whichexperienced a steadily increasing contribution over 100 years. In 1900, it had the lowest proportion in the UK financial system with the figure was slightly under 5 percent. But after a century, this figure turned into 35% - as 3.5 times as in 1900 and made services in business and finance become the largest contributor compared to the others.
By contrast, these contributions in both agriculture and manufacturing saw a significant drop by 2000 but with different trend patterns. This trend in manufacturing was obviousmore stable than in farming sector with the highest and smallest figures were approximately 45% and 15% in 1900 and 2000 respectively. Meanwhile, the economic proportion which was contributed by agribusiness had risen from nearly 50% in 1900 to its peak at 52% in 1950 before suddenly dropping 5 times to more than 10% after 25 years and continued to the lowest point which was 3% by 2000.
