The bar chart compares information about the proportions of British male and female who live without partner in five age groups in 2004/2005.
Overall, it can be seen from the chart that more woman than man over the age of 65 experience the single life meanwhile this figure of man is higher in under 65-year old groups. Besides, the age group of 16 to 24 years old people has the smallest percentages of living alone people in both genders.
It is obvious that there are more than 30 percent 65-74 years old females, which is as twice as only 16 percent of males in the same age group, are living alone. This ratio is similar to the groups of people who are in between 65 and 74 years old with under 30% single man compare to approximate 60% single woman. This is also the age group has the largest numbers of living alone people in both genders.
Only 5 in 10 men and 4 in 10 women in 16-24 years old group refuse to enter the marriage life. These numbers are significantly lower than 14% of male and under 10% of female, 16% of male and around 15% of female in 25-44 and 45-64 age groups respectively.
