The table below shows the figures for imprisonment in five countries between 1930 and 1980.
Write a report for a university lecturer describing the information shown below.
The bar graph shown under illustrates the imprisonment figures studied on a 10-year interval from 1930-1980 in Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, United State and Canada, which is measured by thousands.
The results from study conducted in five countries revealed that in the 50 year period, American citizens had the most number of detainees with 140,000 by 1980 while Great Britain obtained the lowest rate of imprisonment by approximately 30,000 on 1930. Although the previously mentioned country had the lowest number of imprisonment at the start of this study, based on the results figures continually rise from time to time in a consistent manner. By 1980, Great Britain was second to the least in ranking with 85,000 convicts. America, on the other hand was secondary to Canada on 1930. But as the study went on, there had been on increment and decrement in results in minimal differences, though it was unlikely at the end. A 50,000 addition to inmates was recorded by 1980 from 90,00 to 140,000 respectively.
Furthermore, other countries involved in this study seemingly had an interesting trend in terms of result. Australia started off with 70,000 by 1930 that declined to around 45,000 in 1940. Numbers increased and peaked on 1970 to 80,000 which immediately dropped to 45,000 in the last year of the study. New Zealand was even with United States on 1930 by 100,000 detainees. In 1940, a 45,000 decline in figure was recorded that rose gradually until 1980 to 85,000. Canada came out of the strongest at the beginning of the research by 120,000. A decrement of 10,000 was seen by 1940 and a little addition tatalling to around 115,000 was recorded the following decade. A decreasing trend was noted in the next 2 decades yet by 1980, a 10,000 approximate was added to their number of inmates.
All in all, this graph showed that Unite States has almost always been on the top spot along side Canada. Great Britain had a growing number of detainees throughout the decades in a gradual manner. Canada, anyhow, had the top spot at the beginning of this research. Having fluctuates in figures by 1930-1980, ended at the second spot. Australia and New Zealand illustrated shifts in results but have alwys been in a steady pace leading them to mid-spot at all times.
