The chart below shows the total number of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995-2002.Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
The bar graph illustrates the length of conversations made via 3 types of phone calls throughout the UK between 1995 and 2002.
Overall, while the amount of time spent on mobiles (all calls) and national and international-fixed line witnessed a significant increase over the period shown, the opposite was true for the local-fixed line. However, the amount of time on local-fixed line was by far the highest, followed in turn by national and international-fixed line and mobiles (all calls).
To begin with, the length of conversations through local-fixed line showed an upward trend from 72 billion minutes in 1995, reaching its peak at 90 billion in 1999. Over the next 4 years, it experienced a considerable decline and turned back to its first amount in 2002.
National and international-fixed line’s duration of conversations observed a steady growth throughout these seven years, from around 37 billion minutes to 60 billion.
The amount of time spent on mobiles (all calls) was almost 2 billion minutes at first. Since then, it rose gradually and finally reached 45 billion minutes in 2002.
