Educational institutions have a responsibility to dissuade students from pursuing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed.

Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position.

Although someone may support the statement that educational institutions needs to dissuade students from pursuing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed, this may not be true. Some students don't show the talents for some field now may succeed highly in the future. Other kids who neither show talents for this fields may not succeed in this one but achieve some kind of success with the aid of knowledge of the subject. The prohibition from some fields which they doesn't show talents now may not be a wise one, regarding the reasons above.

First, some students may succeed in a field in the future but they doesn't show talents in it now. There is a saying in chinese which says that the largest cock may be the last one which start to crow. This saying means that some great man might not show his advantages when he was young, but later he may reach the goal no one has reached before. For example, Einstein was once a boy who didn't good at school working. However, sometime later when his uncle taught him math, he found himself indulged in the mathematic world. No one at his time had thought that he could have attended a college and won a Nobel Prize later. He is a good example for us. We might not good at some subject such as math or even all the subjects, but we can study harder and try to find something we really have interest in. We could start the first step to success toward this direction then.

Second, other students may need knowledge in the field they are not good at to succeed in come other fields. Today, fields are not separated so sharply as them in the past. Some fields may combine and give birth to a new field, while some fields need to cooperate to make their progresses. For instance, there is a new field named biophysics. As we can see, it means a field combine the knowledge and technology of biology and physics. And some students good at physics but know nothing about biology need to study biology in order to achieve something in this field. And surely they may succeed. There is also a tight relationship of math and physics. Some physicist often needs to discuss their problems with mathematicians to advance in their researches, while some mathematicians usually talk physics with physicist to make their achievement practical to our physical world. That's a good reason physicists may not succeed in researching math but need s good study at math and vice versa.

In the end, in order to succeed, students may need knowledge of many fields, one they will major in and others they don't show talents now. Some students will succeed in the fields they are unlikely to succeed now. Some students will achieve a high goal on the field with knowledges of other fields. For all sakes, however, dissuading students from fields of study in which they are unkindly to succeed in not wise. Educational institutes should not have this responsibility.
