Both of the reading and lecture are about dinosaurs which have been conceived as endotherms or warm-blooded. The reading provides three reasons that these animals were warm-blood like humans and they could maintain their body temperature constant. The lecturer casts doubt on the claims made in the article and finds all arguments dubious.
First of all, the author of reading declares that fossils' dinosaurs were discovered from polar region, so for surviving in such a harsh climate, they had to keep an internal temperature like endotherms. This point is challenged by the lecturer. She points out that during dinosaurs' time, the climate was different than today and polar areas may have experienced warm weather, also during cold days, these creatures could migrate to other areas or hibernate like modern reptiles.
Secondly, the article contends that endotherm creatures' legs are usually located under body for running and so on and dinosaurs were including such a leg position; in the contrast, the professor believes that having legs under body does not mean that they needed such legs for saving energy during running, but this mentioned structure of body helped dinosaurs tolerate their extra weigh which was very advantageous for them.
Finally, the reading passage states that researchers could find herversian canals in dinosaurs' bone structure. These canals are one of the endotherms' features which allow animals to grow quickly. This argument is rebutted by the lecturer again and she expresses that besides of harversian canals, dinosaurs' bone structures include the growth ring. The aforementioned ring showed that dinosaurs' growth was stopping or slowing during cold months, while endotherm animals do not experience such a halt even during cold seasons.
