TPO-30-Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they challenge the specific point made in the reading passage.
The reading and the lecture both talk about a weapon called "burning mirror" that in Greek people use it for defending. This weapon is a polished copper surface curved that can focus the sun's rays, then they can burn the ships by the burning mirror. The reading suggests that this claim can not be possible; however, the professor stats that the critics are persuasive.
At first, the reading and the lecture discuss about the technology of that period. The reading claims that in that time there was not any technology that can build the burning mirror. They should built it with several meter wide and a very precise parabolic curvature. But Greek had not this technology. The lecture, on the other hand, says that they can built it by assemble dozens of smaller pieces of polished copper.
Secondly, the reading and lecture talk about the time to need burning a ship by sun's ray. The reading argues that in an experiment, the wood need about ten minutes to burn by burning mirror. In contrast, the professor states that the material which use to build a ship is not only the wood. For example, they used pitch. It can burn as second with that weapon.
Finally, the reading suggests that Greek had flaming arrows as a good weapon that it can be the same effective like burning mirror. Nevertheless, the speaker says that Roman soldiers were familiar with flaming arrows but they did not know many things about the burning mirror. Also they could not see the burning rays, they only see the fire.
