Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they challenge the specific theories presented in the reading passage.
The reading claims that there are some theories about how agnosites, which were a group of marine animals that died out, may have lived . However, the lecturer finds all the ideas dubious and presents some evidence to refute them all.
the author argues that the agnosite may have been predators. On the contrary, the lecturer brings up the idea that the anthropods actually have large eyes which help them detect their preys, but the agnostids had tiny eyes. We can say that they were nearly blind; therefore, they cannot be predators. If they considered to be predators, they may have used other senses, although this idea has not seen in fossils.
Furthermore, the reading passage holds the view that they may have inhabited on the seafloor. In contrast, the professor underlines the fact that the seafloor dwellers have not the ability to move fast and far distances. They move slowly and stay in localized area, but we discoveried fossils of agnostides dispersed in large distances which suggested that they could move readily long distances, and this ability is unusual in seafloor dwellers.
Finally, the reading asserts that they were parasite. Conversely, the speaker dismisses this issue due to the fact that the population of parasites are not very large, because if the size of them becomes very large, it will kill the host organisim. But, according to fossils, the population of agnosites were large because there were species scattered in a vast number of areas.
