The given line charts illustrate the changes in the size of ozone hole in Antarctic region and the amount of three kinds of gases damaging the ozone layer between 1980 and 2000.
Overall, it is evident that there was a significant increase in the size of ozone hole in Antarctica over the period. While CFC- 11 has caused the ozone layer showed a downward trend, the dramatic increase was witnessed in the amount of CFC-12 and N2O, which only began in 1990.
To specify, the size of ozone hole in Antarctica soared, with some fluctuations, from below 1000 square kilometers in 1980 to approximately 3500 square kilometers, which was almost seven times higher than the original level. In other words, ozone hole was the most extensive size in 2000.
Moreover, the second line chart showed a decline trend in the amount of CFC-11, which was the largest proportion in the first year of the period at about 65 million and went down to below 500 million as the lowest figure in 2000 In addition, CFC-12 grew steadily from almost 25 million in 1980 to 40 million in 2000.
