By 2020, CO2 emissions from cars, vans and truck are expected to increase significantly. It is predicted that the figures for cars and trucks will rise by more than 5 tons, while the figure for vans will experience a smaller rise of 2 tons. In contrast to these increases, the figure for buses is expected to remained stable at 9 tons throughout the period.
The number of vehicles in 2000 was 20 million. The number rapidly increased to 40 million in 2010 and is expected to reach 55 million in 2020.
