The pie charts below show the units of electricity production of fuel by source in Australia and France in 1980 and 2000.
Given are the charts providing statistical information about the proportion of main fuel sources in production process of electricity, namely; coal, oil, natural gas, hydro power and nuclear power across the two decades in various countries. Overall, the total production of electricity almost doubled in both indicated countries and Australia preferred using coal as the major source whereas France utilized quite various sources in 1980 and preferred nuclear power in 2000.
It is apparent that, in Australia half of total production belonged to coal which experienced a threefold increase during 20 years. Furthermore, the usage of hydro power soared by 16 units while figures for natural gas and oil fell dramatically, to be more precise, from 20 to 2 units and from 10 to 2 units respectively.
In comparison with Australia, France used nuclear power as an additional source and the main share belonged to coal and natural gas which were identical (25 %) and closely followed by oil, nuclear power and hydro power accordingly. Between 1980 and 2000 there were a staggering alteration in distribution of fuel sources, to be more specific, the share of nuclear power was approximately three fourth of total production while figures for oil and coal, and hydro power and natural gas showed the similar indicators.
