You have recently moved to a new flat. Unfortunately, you lost some money the other day and can not afford to pay next month's rent which is due. Write a letter to the landlord explaining the situation and that you will pay as soon as your parents send the money. Also, mention that there are some problems with the flat.
Dear Mr. Smith
I am your tenant and moved recently into your flat which is located in the city centre near the oxford university. I am sorry to say that I am not able to pay this month's rent before 10th. I am writing this letter to tell you about my condition and also some issues with the apartment.
Yesterday, I went to market to buy necessary items and to withdraw money from ATM to pay rent but when I returned to my room, my wallet was missing. I tried to find it but all in vain. Cash was in the purse that I lost. That is why, I am not able to make payment on time. Luckily, my debit card was not in the wallet. Now, I have asked my parents to send me some money. As soon as I received the amount, I will give you the rent.
Besides that there are several issues with the room. Firstly, the tap of the bathroom is leaking. It leads to wastage of water. Secondly, wardrobe is not closing properly and its lock is broken. As I have expensive items like laptop which is not safe to place outside without locking them in cupboard.
Hope that you could understand my situation, allowing me to pay house rent few days later and resolve the issues which I am facing in the apartment.
I am looking forward to hear from you.
Yours sincerely
Flora Thompson
