In this set of materials the reading passage discusses that some people are disagree with the policy that called "let it burn" when a fire started in the Yellowstone forest. And they provide some reason for their concern. While,in the listening the professor casts doubt on what is persented in the text and believes that the fires is a natural ecological cycle of forest and it is not harmful but has some benefits for forest.

First of all, in the text it is clearly mentioned that fires damge to vegetation and trees. However, the professor claims that fire destruction some vegetation and let to other kind of plants to colonies the forests. Because fires provide opportunity for some plants species that before fire cannot grow in the forest. For example, seed of some plants can germinate just after heating.

In addition, the professor disagrees with this idea that fires damage to the animal wildlife of forest. She says that fires provide good chance for some certain small plants to grows and it provide good food resource for small animals like robites.

Finally, in the text it is stated that the fires can be harmful for local business because of decrease in the number of visitors that come to the forest. The professor subscribes that the fires in the yellowstone forest depended on the amount of rain falls and fire not happen every years. For example, the yellowstone forest has not seasonal fire for about several years and the tourist come back to visit there each year after then.
