The graph below shows the contribution of three sectors-agriculture, manufacturing, and business and financial services- to the UK economy in the twentieth century.
The bar chart illustrates the changes in the proportion of the contribution for three selected sectors to the UK economy and this survey conducted from 1900 to 2000.
To begin with, agriculture started at the highest proportion of 50% of three countries and continued to reach its peak at 52% in the next fifty years. Afterward, this figure dropped dramatically to nearly 1% in 2000.
As the percentage of manufacturing, it experienced a gradual decline, with the figure decreasing from 47% in 1900 to 15% in 2000. Turing to the proportion of business and financial, an inverse trend was recorded in comparison to the trend for manufacturing. The was a notable growth from 1900 to 2000, when the figure increased from 3% to 40%.
Overall, from 1900 to 1950, agriculture and manufacturing are the main contributions to the UK economy. During the period 1975 to 2000, business and financial overtook their place and became the major factor of economic growth in the UK.
