Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they respond to the specific points made in the reading passage. the assay announced cloud seeding is effective in reducing hail creation and provided 3 reason and examples to support this idea. the lecturer believed that the reasons are given in passage arent convincing and stated reasons to counter the passage.
The article states that hail has always been a problem for farmers in some areas of the united states. Over the last decades, a method called cloud seeding has been tried for hail reduction. The essay provides three reasons that cloud seeding has been effective. However, the lecturer explains that the idea of cloud seeding being impactful is not totally clear and there are lots of questions remaining unanswered and refutes each of the author's reasons.
First, the reading claims that laboratory experiments may reveal the effect of cloud seeding by expressing that when silver iodide is added to cold water, often snow forming would be observable instead of hail pellets. The lecturer refutes this point by saying that it might be true that adding silver iodide to evaporating water in the laboratory may create snow, but in the normal situation, it might prevent snow and rain from forming as well as hail, which can cause lack of water and eventually drought in arid areas.
Second, the article posits that there is evidence from several countries such as Asian countries that cloud seeding has been proven impactful offering that this method is potentially advantageous in the United States. The lecturer states that it might be effective in Asian urban cities with highly polluted air, caused by car traffic, etc... but there are no obvious reasons that it might have impressive impacts in less polluted air conditions.
Third, the reading announces that a few local studies support the value of cloud seeding by an example of a study conducted in a farming region in the United States which there was a reduction in hail damage as a result. The lecturer counters this idea by stating that the same study showed hail decline in surrounding the specific farming place, such as the south, east, and north of it. this might self-explain that the reduction of hail in specific farming place can be a result of a variation in weather in the whole region not just the effect of cloud seeding.
